What if it was not so much about me figuring out God,
as it was that God is reaching out to me ?

Jesus Christ is God’s provision for my sin and separation.
Christians believe that God entered into Human History so that he could speak and act in a way that we could understand.  He came as a baby and was born in a rough wooden shed to a poor young girl.  He shared the human experience with us.  His name is Jesus Christ.  Through Him I can know and experience God’s love and plan for my life.   Religions try to reach up to God, but Jesus is God stooping down to us.  I can’t know God on my terms, I can only choose to know God on God’s terms.  Jesus did what was necessary to restore my relationship with God.

Jesus Died in my Place
“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Jesus Rose From the Dead
“Christ died for our sins…He was buried…He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures…He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred…” (1 Corinthians 15:3-6).

He Is the Only Way to God
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me'” (John 14:6).

This diagram illustrates that God has bridged the gulf which separates us from Him by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in our place to pay the penalty for our sins.  Imagine a Judge who finds me guilty of some crime.  I also happen to be homeless.  Instead of sending me to jail, he steps down, pays the fine for me and then takes me into his own home to live with him.  That is what God did for me in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

It is not enough just to know these three principles…
