Psalm 103:3-5 The Miracle of Existence, the Secret of Gratitude

Psalm 103:3-5 The Miracle of Existence, the Secret of Gratitude

July 29, 2019

Today we join the author of Psalm 103 as he looks back along his life and all the ways that God has blessed him. We take a wild ride that ranges from the choices we have made all the way down to the latest scientifc discoveries about what is going on inside our bodies at the level of proteins and cells. And we end by encountering the word that is the secret that leads to an exceptional life.

“We are perishing for lack of wonder, not for lack of wonders…
— G.K. Chesterton

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
—Albert Einstein

PSALM 103

1 Praise the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, praise his holy name.

2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits—

3 who FORGIVES all your sins (Ephesians 1:7)

and HEALS all your diseases, (Matthew 15:30)

4 who REDEEMS your life from the pit (Titus 2:13-14)

and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who SATISFIES your desires with good things (John 10:10)

so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

God doesn’t just drag us back up to zero, he CROWNS US
with love and compassion!

I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” —G.K. Chesterton

“None is more impoverished than the one who has no gratitude. Gratitude is a currency that we can mint for ourselves, and spend without fear of bankruptcy.” —Fred De Witt Van Amburgh

“Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.”
—Zig Ziglar

If I had to list the four things I am most grateful to God for in my life, they would be:
1.

2.

3.

4.

Psalm 103:1-2 How to recover from spiritual drift

Psalm 103:6-7 The Christian and Social Justice
